Dirty D.O.G.S. Lewis-Morris Mutt Madness
Sunday
Nov. 1
There will be two back-to-back rides in Lewis-Morris Park, Morristown, NJ. When you RSVP, please include a cell phone # so that if there is any confusion regarding the location or time of the start, we will be able to contact you. Single mountain bikes are welcome, too.

Ride #1: Intermediate-Advanced level teams will do a 1.5 hour single-track loop at a brisk pace beginning at 1:30pm (meet in parking lot at 1pm to prepare so we can start riding on time). As this first group needs to return to the parking lot on time to meet the second group, there will not be many opportunities for rest breaks or to wait for stragglers - this ride is intended for teams who are already confident in their singletrack skills and fitness.

Ride #2: At 3pm (group 2 riders meet in parking lot at 2:30pm to prepare so we can start riding on time), the earlier riders will meet Beginner-Intermediate level teams in the same parking lot for an additional 1.5 hours on mostly double-track at a "no team left behind" pace, with "wait-ups" at intersections if necessary, that will be geared toward new offroad tandem riders as a learning experience. Expect to have some long, rocky climbs. No one will be dropped or left behind. This ride will end at 4:30pm so that we can load the gear into the cars before dark - November 1 is the first day of the return to Standard Time. (Check your clocks!) We intend to go out for a casual dinner nearby after the ride, so we hope that all the participating teams will plan on joining us.

Bring a dry change of clothes to the ride because we will go directly from the park to dinner. Light rain we will still ride. Heavy rain cancels. Contact Cam/Karen if you are coming, and Cam/Karen will send a confirmation of the ride the morning of the event if weather is questionable.

Time Group 1 meet at 1pm and ride at 1:30pm. Group 2 meet at 2:30pm and ride at 3pm. Group 1 riders are invited and encouraged to join the Group 2 ride.
Location Lewis-Morris Park in the lot above Sunrise Lake off Rt. 24.
Distance Offroad we will track time, not distance. Group 1 will ride for 3 hours, Group 2 for 1.5 hours.
Terrain Group 1 singletrack with a lot of technical climbing and descending on narrow trails. Group 2 mostly doubletrack with some short singletrack connectors on uneven, rocky terrain. Road bikes with cyclocross tires will not be adequate for either ride.
Refreshments Dinner out. Location to be chosen based on how many folks indicate they are coming. We will make reservations.

We will meet in the paved parking lot off Rt. 24 by Sunrise Lake. The directions on the website are very clear if coming from north/Morristown. Karen and I will be coming from the South, so we will take Rt. 202 heading north, turn left on Tempewick, right on Corey, right on Rt. 24, then right into the parking lot at Sunrise Lake.
